Charlotte Kaye Courtney, 73, better known to those who loved her as "Nana," passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. She was born on September 4, 1953, in Richton, Mississippi to Irene and Welton Burnett. She had an older brother, Dennis Burnett (Becky), and a younger sister, Debbie Newell (Robert), whose children, Jamie and Jason, were her beloved nephews. She attended Jones County Junior College, the University of Southern Mississippi, and William Carey University and dedicated her professional career to serving children with special needs.

She will be remembered most for the love and care she gave as Ricky's wife of 46 years; as a mother to Adam, Justin, and Bradley; as a mother-in-law to Michelle (Adam), Destiny (Bradley), and Brittany (Justin); and as "Nana" to Dimen, Madelyn, Sadie, Emma, Alex, Sara, Kace, and Paisley.

Charlotte had an energy and enthusiasm that were unmatched. She loved playing the piano and singing and spent many years singing in the choir at First Baptist Church of Brooklyn, where she was a member. She also loved working in her flower beds, decorating her home for the changing seasons, and spoiling her pets and grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed and eternally loved by all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Brooklyn from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., with the service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Shattles Cemetery in Brooklyn.
