A memorial service for Mr. Charles "Charlie" Powell Mercer, Jr. will be held at First Baptist Church of Richton on Saturday, February 15, 2025.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. with the memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m.

Charlie Mercer passed away on February 10, 2025 at Merit Health Wesley Medical Center after a brief illness.  Charlie was born in Arcadia, Florida on January 6, 1942 and came to Mississippi to attend Jones College.  He lived in Richton since his graduation from William Carey University.  He loved the outdoors and spent most of his time hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He ran Charlie Mercer Timber, LLC until he retired in 2019.  Until recently he was still actively involved in daily activities at Mercer Cattle in Greene County.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arluin Henderson Mercer; their children, Betsy (Shawn) McKee of Richardson, TX, Shawn (Katie) Mercer of Richton, MS, and Dr. Charles (Chara) Mercer of Collierville, TN; six grandchildren, Mercer Ann (Ryan) Moon, Patrick McKee, Harison McKee, Olivia McKee, Anna Claire (Wes) Brown, and Matt Mercer; one great grandchild, Charlie Moon; and brother, Cary (Kaye) Mercer of Arcadia, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to The Baptist Children's Village in Clinton or Homes for Hope for Children in Hattiesburg.
