Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery of Ellisville for Ms. Carolyn McMellon, age 82, of Pascagoula, MS. Ms. McMellon passed from this life on June 22, 2026, at Diversicare Nursing Home in Moss Point, MS.

Carolyn was born on August 2, 1943 in Jones County, MS to Paul J. and Delma Z. Rose McMellon. She worked for many years as a secretary for Sears. She enjoyed reading mysteries. She loved children and especially her adopted grandchildren.

Although she was never married and had no children of her own, she loved all of her nieces and nephews, especially Patricia Folks, Raye McMellon Girrard and Randy McMellon who were very dear to her. Her love of people encompassed two special families who were Carolyn's best friend/adopted daughter, Tina Sample, and adopted grandchildren, Joslynn, Autumn Hansley and Keegan who spent many happy hours together. Carolyn's neighbor "Mr. Joe" Smith and his wife, Pauline Hathorn, were the best and "loaned" their child, Da'Janira Hathorn and grandchildren, Xeniyah, Xenobia, Xymiriah, Jayden and Ryver Hathorn to Carolyn. They kept her life full and busy. She loved them all. She also had a good friend and sister-in-law, Jennie McMellon, that she spent a lot of time with.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Claiborne, Rayborn, Alonzo, Charles and James "Jimmy" McMellon.
