Services for Capt. Vernon Blair Bunnell, USMC, Ret., will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Jones and Son Chapel in Richton. Capt. Bunnell passed from this life on June 20, 2023 at the age of 90.  Josh Jones will officiate the service.  Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Bunnell, Joel Jones, Caleb Jones, David Lozano, Brian Bunnell, and Bo Bunnell.

Capt. Bunnell was a retired captain with the United States Marine Corps after 20 years of service.  He also retired as Postmaster with the United States Postal Service in Richton after 25 years of service.

Capt. Bunnell was preceded in death by his first wife, Janette Bunnell; son, Lee Bunnell; parents, B.D. and Blanche Bunnell; and sister, Dorothy Jones Eason.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Bunnell of Brandon; daughter, Dee Bunnell Myrick of Flowood; brothers, David (Kathy) Bunnell of Richton, Charles (Cora) Bunnell of Ovett, and Buddy (Judy) Bunnell of Richton; grandchildren, Jessica (Stephen) Singleton of Flowood, Zach (Alison) Myrick of Madison, and Caitlin (William) Thrall of Flowood; great grandchildren, Ahriana Thrall and Elllie Blair Singleton, both of Flowood, and Dean Myrick of Madison.
