Services for Bro. Reggie Smith, age 67, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2024 at Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church in Monticello, Mississippi.  Rev. Bobby Dawson, Rev. Lynn Riley, Bro. Charlie Joe Green, and Rev. Marc Williams will officiate the service and burial will follow in Forest Grove Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery in Jayess, Mississippi

Reginald Morris Smith was born to Marvin Morris and Margaret Lorraine Cummings Smith on November 13, 1956, in Meridian, Mississippi.  Early on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, he received a summons from his earthly house of pain and suffering to his mansion just over the hilltop on the eternal, golden streets of glory. Bro. Reggie, as he was known to so many, was raised in a Godly home.  He graduated from Ouachita High School in Monroe, Louisiana, where he played baseball.  He aspired to continue playing ball in college, but the Lord had other plans for his life.  At the age of 15, Bro. Reggie accepted his call to ministry while at Stone Avenue Methodist Protestant Church.  He was licensed and ordained by the Louisiana Conference of the Methodist Protestant Church and became the pastor of Watson's Chapel Methodist Protestant Church.  He continued his education at Asbury College.  While there, he sang with the Men's Glee Club and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and a minor in English.  Bro. Reggie faithfully served as a pastor in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi Methodist Protestant churches.  On August 26, 1980, he married the love of his life, Donna Lynn Boyd (affectionately known as Susie) and they began their years of serving together at Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church in Monticello, Mississippi.  Bro. Reggie loved visiting the sick and praying for them and helping the needy and those less fortunate.  His life's mission was to win souls for Christ and to share God's love.  He could strike up a conversation with strangers and make them feel like he had known them for years.  He used these gifts as he served as a Hospice Chaplain.  Bro. Reggie endured suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.  When his health began to fail, he never let that stop him from doing the work God called him to do.  Even in these last few years, he was faithful to continue in kingdom work.  He was a living example of Jesus, both in word and in deed.  He fought a good fight and has gone to receive his reward.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lorraine Smith; his father-in-law, Dewitt Boyd; brother-in-law, Jimmy Boyd; niece, Christa LeAnn Boyd Williams; and close family friend, Ruth Cunningham.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife of 44 years, Susie; his son, Jeremy; his daughter, Destinie (Shane); his sister, Cheryl (Lynn); mother-in-law, Ruby Nell; sister-in-law, Jane; nieces, Donna (Donald), Melissa, Lynsey (Joshua), and Amy; nephews, Will (Samantha) and Scott (Jennifer); grandchildren, Zerah, Sawyer, and Emery; great-nieces, Maggie, Johnna, Jaycee, Ally, and Mae; great-nephews, Abram, Brantley, and Nash; special friends, Wesley and Marion Cunningham; a loving church family at Neely Methodist Protestant Church; and a host of other loving family and friends.
