Services for Mrs. Brenda Sue Smith, age 64, of Richton, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church in Clara.  Mrs. Smith passed from this life on August 10, 2026 at her residence.  Bro. Cobi Smith, Bro. Justin Stinson, and Bro. Jarrod Vanderslice will officiate the service and burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Calep Smith, Cody Smith, Cory Smith, Josh West, Eric Rowell, Hunter Beech, and Cobi Smith as alternate.

Brenda Sue was a loving and devoted woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished every opportunity to bring her loved ones together.  She especially enjoyed cooking for them and creating special memories around the table. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and took great delight in spoiling them with her love, attention, and affection. Her family will always remember the warmth, laughter, and love she brought to every gathering.  Brenda Sue also enjoyed going on vacations with her loved ones, especially to the mountains, where she found joy and peace surrounded by the beauty of nature.  She was a faithful pastor's wife and an active member of her church. She faithfully attended Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church and was devoted to serving her church and community.

Brenda Sue will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her love for her family, her generous spirit, and the memories she created with those closest to her will remain in their hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, A. Lee and Eula Mae Kitchens; grandson, Cobi Smith, Jr.; sister, Linda Sue McLain; and brother, Bub Kitchens.

She is survived by her husband, William Lamar Smith, Jr. of Richton; children, Kala (Eric) Rowell of Clara, Shala (Josh) West of Clara, Cobi (Shelly) Smith of Richton, Holly (Hunter) Beech of Laurel. Calep (Larissa) Smith of Richton, Cody (Lexi) Smith of Richton, and Cory (Sidney) Smith of Richton; grandchildren, Kinlee, Paylin, Cayson, Caiden, Eli, Coen, Canton, Paislee, Charlsie, Easton, Cainen, Caegan, Eliza, Fisher, Clayton, Coleton, Parker, Preslee, Coleston, Heidi, Finn, Collyns, Calvin, Tristan, and Cutler; brother, James Lee (Marcha) Kitchens of Richton; and sister-in-law, Leigh Kitchens of Richton.
