Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2025, in the First Baptist Church of Beaumont for Mrs. Bettye Jo McCoy Howard, age 92, of Beaumont. Mrs. Howard passed from this life on May 24, 2025 at her residence. Bro. John Sapp will officiate with the burial to follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be M.A. Bass, Van McCoy, Mark Pate, David Daniel, Davis Kirby and Scott Dearman. Honorary pallbearers will be Hancel Holder, Tommy Emerson, Robert Steele, Dale Carnahan, Kelcey Lee, Shane Knight, and Daniel McCoy.

Bettye Jo was a member of the First Baptist Church of Beaumont. She was a retired office manager with State Farm Insurance working along her husband, Carl Howard. Mrs. Bettye and Carl were married for 67 years. She was a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and the Beaumont Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Howard; son, Carl Edward "Eddie" Howard II; parents, Thomas Jefferson and Sadie McCoy; sisters, Valane Bass, Frieda Emerson, and Sue Fuller; brother, Tommy McCoy; and nephew, Marty Fuller.

Bettye Jo is survived by her sister, Vickie Daniel of Dallas, TX; nieces, Nancy Bass Kirby of Atlanta, GA, Leigh Fuller Pate (Mark) of Oakwood, TX, Melanie Emerson of Annapolis, MD, and Darlene Underwood of Kiln, MS; nephews, M.A. Bass of Hazelhurst, MS, Thomas William Emerson of Biloxi, MS, Vanoy McCoy of New Augusta, MS, Daniel McCoy of New Augusta, MS, and David Daniel (Heather) of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law, Rita Howard Garcia (William) of Austin, TX; and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Beaumont.
