Services for Mrs. Betty Jean Waites, age 86, of Richton will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Jones and Son Chapel in Richton.  Mrs. Waites passed from this life on February 20, 2024 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  Bro. Josh Dunn will officiate the service and burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Kirby Earl McLain, George Henslee, Steve Waites, Wilburn Jordan, Jerry Waites, Cody Smith, with Larry Windsor and Corey Sumrall as alternates.

Mrs. Waites was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richton.  She was a retired LPN after 54 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Waites; parents, Paul and Verna Bunch; daughter, Verna Alice Waites; brother, Billy Ray Bunch; and great granddaughter, Brittany Nicole.

She is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Mike) Ward,  Rhonda Blackwell, both of Richton, and Mila (Scott) Stewart of Petal; grandchildren, Ladonna K. Dunnam, Christina (Cali) Garza, Michael (Tia) Ward, Josh Ward, Makenzie (Corey) Sumrall, Carrie Stewart (Cody Smith), and Madison Blackwell (George Henslee); and 13 great grandchildren.
