Services for Mr. Austin Yawn, age 88, of Sumrall, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Jones & Son Chapel in Hattiesburg.  Mr. Yawn passed from this life on May 21, 2026 in Hattiesburg.  Bro. Wilford Knight will officiate the service and burial will follow in Chambliss Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Cerise Smith, Sheri Meador, Amanda Jordan, Hannah Simmons, Dakota Creppel, Rayne Pendergrass, Cyara Pendergrass, Sage Pendergrass, and Ryne Anderson.

Mr. Yawn worked most of his life in the woods as a logger and stumper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janimer Yawn; daughters, Martha Anderson and Leona Anderson; brothers, Leon Yawn, Randolph Yawn, Johnny Wayne Yawn, and Stanley Yawn; and sisters, Louise Madden and Claire Overstreet.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandee (Jason) Pendergrass of Sumrall; grandchildren, Cerise (Eddy) Smith, Sheri (Clai) Meador, Amanda (Kevin) Jordan, Hannah Simmons, Dakota (Tony) Creppel, Rayne Pendergrass, Cyara Pendergrass, Sage Pendergrass, and Ryne Anderson; great grandchildren, Sam, Payton, Braylen, Hunter, Makynli, CJ, and Lucy; brothers, Hubert Yawn of Purvis and Richard Yawn of Stapleton, AL; sisters, Shirley Boleware and Frances Rutland, both of Sumrall; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
