Mrs. Ann Holton Rouse Walley, daughter of the late Annie Murmon Allen Rouse and Levy Holton Rouse was born at home on October 3, 1939 in Snow Hill, North Carolina. She attended the public schools of Greene County and Stokes Pactolus High School. At age twelve, Ann professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Contentnea Creek and joined the Baptist Church. Ann was united in holy matrimony with James Albert Walley on September 21, 1956.

Mrs. Walley was a devoted, loving wife, mother, sister, and homemaker who delighted in her three children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was loved by family and friends and gave selflessly of her time and talents. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew and loved her. She quietly departed her earthly life March 25, 2023 surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren following a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Obadiah Walley; sister, Angelene Rouse; and brother, Harry Lee Rouse, Sr.

Ann is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, James Albert Walley. Her life will forever be cherished in the hearts of her children, Angelene Walley Picton (along with dear friend Mark Teel) of Grifton, NC and Wanda Walley Nugent (John) of Greer, SC; brothers, Edward Earl Rouse (Emily) of Winterville, NC and Ricky Wayne Rouse (Linda) of Snow Hill, NC; sister, Dorothy Rouse Simpkins (Leon) of Washington, NC; sister-in-law, Betty Ellis Rouse of Greenville, NC; six grandchildren: Adam Obadiah Nugent (Emily) of Inman, SC, Ann Nugent Dodd (Michael) of Taylors, SC, Mitchell Douglas Picton of Ayden, NC, Elna Elaine (Ellie) Picton of Raleigh, NC, John Douglas Picton of Grifton, NC, and Tucker Blake Nugent of Greer, SC; three great grandchildren: Sara Lynn Dodd, Ally Grace Dodd, and John Lane Dodd, all of Taylors, SC.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on March 28, 2023, at Farmer Funeral Service of Ayden, NC. A Celebration of life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Mark Teel officiating. Additional visitation will be held from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. on March 31, 2023, at Jones and Son Funeral Home of Richton, MS. Graveside services and burial will follow at Edwards Cemetery (Good Hope Church Road) Richton, MS. Arrangements are by Farmer Funeral Service of Ayden, NC and Jones and Son Funeral Home of Richton, MS.
