Graveside services for Mrs. Alice James, age 79, of Brandon, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Sumrall.  Mrs. James passed away on April 7, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. James devoted nearly 40 years of dedicated service to the chancery clerks' offices in Lamar, Rankin, and Hinds Counties. Throughout her career, she was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to serving her community with integrity and professionalism. Her years of service culminated in her role as Chancery Clerk of Hinds County, where she faithfully served for eight years. In that position, she earned the respect of colleagues and the public alike for her leadership, knowledge, and willingness to help others navigate important legal and civic matters.

Outside of her professional life, Mrs. James found great joy in traveling and exploring new places, often making lasting memories with family along the way. She also had a deep love for gardening and took pride in cultivating flowers and plants, creating a peaceful and welcoming environment at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randel James; and mother, Vera Nobles.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Candace) Bolin of Brandon; grandchildren, Nikki (Jason) Sistrunk and Courtney (Allen) Holifield; and four great-grandchildren.
