Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Jones & Son Funeral Home in Beaumont for 1st SGT Shelby Byrd, Army, Ret., age 83, of Beaumont, who died on October 7, 2022.  Bro. Delton Parker will officiate the service with burial to follow at Union Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Herring, Shane Jordan, Nathan Sylvester, Jeremy Malone, Scott Anders, Jason Byrd and Ammon Herring.

1st SGT Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, Burley Commodore and Elizabeth Jane Byrd; son, Rudell Byrd; granddaughter, Autumn Bond; brother, Nick Byrd; sisters, Bonnie Nell Sylvester and Gloria Jean Herring.

He is survived by his wife, Voncile Jordan Byrd of Beaumont; sons, Wayne (Janet) Byrd of Hattiesburg and Nelson Byrd of Richton; 6 grandchildren, Hayley (Zach) Williamson, Katie (Michael) Croisdale, Misty Byrd, Levi Byrd, Amber Byrd and Gregory Byrd; aunts, S M Penton and Zettie Bodie, and several great-grandchildren.

1st SGT Byrd, was retired with the U. S. Army, and attended Kittrell Congregational Methodist Church in Beaumont.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Jones & Son Chapel in Beaumont.
